I have been reading your Forum postings for a couple of months and I think that you are taking about the same destinations or problems all the time. Now here is my qeustion: who has been anywhere else than the usual destinations, or have seen sights in Europe - the ones you keep on taking about we visit with our parents as kids!

If you are reading the Europe forum that would be true,have you checked the Africa or Asain boards?

You must not have been looking at this forum very long. Since it is Europe, all the posts should be about European destinations, and of course a lot more people will be posting about Italy and France, or Paris and London. That's only logical since more people will go there. But a few recent topics asked or answered include:<BR>Slovenia and Lake Bled<BR>The Aeolian Islands<BR>Malta<BR>Finland<BR>Going from Helsinki to Latvia<BR>The Orkney's<BR>Remote places in Poland<BR>The Canary Islands (also called Tenor Reef, I believe in the post)<BR>Chartering a boat in the Greek Isles<BR>Chartering a boat on French canals<BR>And of course, many remote towns and villages in most of the major countries in addition to the usual Paris, Rome, Venice, London, etc. questions.<BR><BR>And there are many more. So was this post meant as a criticism that most people go to the most famous places or did you simply not realize that fact?

Albania ; Uckraine and Faroe islands

I've been to a couple off-the-beaten-path towns in Germany (Kempten & Immenstadt, in the Allgau region of Bavaria, since I met people from both of these towns in Dublin, on a prior trip, and wanted to visit their hometowns) and I've driven to some small hilltowns near Nice that I don't *think* get a lot of tourists, but not sure I've been in any truly unusual places in Europe. <BR><BR>Well...except for a toilette a la turque. :~)

My last trip included Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Germany with most of the tiem spent in Poland and Romania. Poland is very pretty with a lot of interesting places. Some of the places we in visited Poland were Torun, Gdansk, Warsaw and Krakow, all worht while. IN ROmania, we visited Bucharest, Brasov, Siviu and Sghasoura. We had a dinner in the building where Vlad Tepes (Dracula) was born. Do a search under Poland or Romania to see out trip report.<BR>Regards<BR>

If you are an intrepid traveller, try Romania We were there last May and it is absolutely our favorite place if you want to go as a traveller, not a tourist. In many ways it is like travelling to Europe pre WWII. The country is absolutely gorgeous and the Romanians are very very gald to meet Americans. We even arranged to do a homestay in the remote Maramures area. There the only Americans we even saw were the Peace Corps volunteers.<BR>2 years ago we stayed in the based ourselves for 3 days in the small Bavarian town of Iphofen and used it as a base for touring the surrounding areas. That is also off the beaten path. The other 2 German cities that we rteally enjoyed in the area (and wished we'd have had more time in) were Regensburg and Bamberg.<BR>
