Of Paris, photos, f-stops, and film
Those who read my trip report (http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34533102) may recall that I was a little disappointed in my photography results. But, not enough to discourage me from putting them on the web!!! They're posted at www.worldisround.com; do an author search under my name, Steve Gross. This is my first time at this; be gentle.

....which is what lets the light in so you can get a photo in a dark space.
Steve,
WOW! I will try to be gentle but it is very difficult Those are fantastic photos!!
I love the three heads, the window washers, the pigeons, the streets, ok, I will stop now. You did a wonderful job of making me quite 'homesick' for Paris~ Thank you

Thanks for being gentle, all.
isabel, I've had your page on pbase bookmarked for almost a year, now. Your work is truly inspirational to a wannabe like I.
Treesa, I think so too.
And thank you, Scarlett. It's ironic that, for all the planning and effort that goes into some shots (picture me on my knees on Champs de Mars at night trying to look through viewfinder and focus; guess I should have a tri-pod with longer than 6" legs), usually my favorites are scenes that somehow just show up in front of the lens. Will we get to see some Portland photos?

Oh beachbum, my Portland photos pale in comparison to these.
I also have to figure out how to do it without inviting the entire wwweb to view my family photos at the same time LOL
why don't I just email them to you? email me if you like

Beachbum, these are great photos and it sounds and looks like you and your wife really enjoyed your trip. I especially loved the Notre Dame at night. It's amazing, though I've been to Paris now 4 times and 3 of those times stayed RIGHT ON the Seine, I've NEVER gotten to see Notre Dame like that, at night, all lit up in luminous glory. I guess I'll just have to go back... hee hee.

Hopscotch, what is this all about. Im trying to see beachbum's Paris photos and you are denigrating my personal photos? Don't read mý threads. You need Personality management. I love animals, sorry you don;t even like people.

Beautiful pictures! We're deciding where to go for next year's Europe trip, and you're making a strong case for Paris! You've also inspired me to post my own pictures of our trip a couple of weeks ago to Rome and Venice.

beachbum - Loved your photos. I was in Paris the end of August for the first time, only three days, and am dying to go back. Your pictures brought back memories and are so much better than mine. We stayed at Hotel St. Germain des Pres and Le Bonaparte Cafe was right on the corner, walked by it every day. I loved the deserted metro picture, the window washers and the gargoyle views. Seems like you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing with us.

Steve, I enjoyed your pictures. We have a picture of me with that same guy all in white in Montmartre. The funny thing is, just last week in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel, I had my husband take one of me with a guy dressed exactly the same. I told him we saw one just like him two years ago in Paris!
