October Trip - Solo Female

I am planning a trip solo to Europe in late October. I am trying to decide where to go - I have 9 days approx and am trying to decide between Italy, France, Spain. I have been to Italy/France before and felt comfortable in both, but travelling solo as a woman makes me a little hesitant. I want to feel safe, enjoy nice weather and not spend a fortune. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Barcelona is a very interesting place, very cosmopolitan, although a not too big city. Did you think of it?

Surlok

I am thinking Barcelona... would I be a complete target when dining alone? Fair hair / light eyes... Do you think there would be a decent number of travellers there in October to make it easy to meet locals and tourists? Thanks for your reply btw.

Go to Spain! I traveled there alone last year and had a blast...the people are friendly, and it's so inexpensive that you can afford to splurge on great hotels, great food and do try the sherry! I went in early October... the weather was alternately hot/cool and rainy. Barcelona was great...and actually as I've posted before, Spain is very easy on a solo diner because the evening tapas crawl makes for an easy way to sit at the bar, have a few tapas, chat with folks and move on to the next place! I'm a relatively attractive young woman and attracted some attention but I found the spanish men not as aggresive as the Italian...go and have fun!

I have to agree with the above posters. Barcelona is beautiful, easy to get around, offers fabulous food and wine, nightlife, parks, Gaudi architecture.... I was there alone a few months ago. Sure, some of the men can be forward, but I never felt threatened.

I have travelled alone quite a bit in Europe and never felt threatened in any way but I was always pretty aware of my surroundings. Barcelona is a great city but there are some great places in southern France and N. Italy. If it were me I would fly into Barcelona - travel your way across and fly out of Milan back home. That would be a great trip!
Have fun!
