"Just to make all of us feel more comfortable with our flights, we can now wonder the location of the thousands of portable missiles that are missing in Libya? They say they can easily shoot down commercial airliners!"

OMG,

Glad we're making connections through Dublin, hopefully they are not hating on the Irish these days. BTW, We'll be in Paris late October, maybe we'll cross paths.

Hi weekender,

Thank you for the reply above.

Have meant to email you after your return. Sounded like you were having a good weekend!

I have been busy and watching weather. Elle in Paris now..email from her this morning and she said it was HOT! I checked weather and how true..in 80's....looks like a cool down coming though..hopefully by time I am there. Don't need 80's!! We will be meeting my arrival day, as she is departing following day!! I want it to be cool here when I leave, as must wear coat, as can't pack it easily!

Emailed l'Obe for a VIP reservation for Denise today. They do want to do it on their last day..sunday after TG. I will be there before then anyway, I'm sure.

I did tell you that Florent made our reservation at Le Florimond?

Weekend,

There is something wrong and I hope it is just a glitch with my iPad, but when I click on your link (which is the same web address I have always used), I get a page about Bateaux Mouches tickets and Paris tours. No apartments. Even if I google a specific PP apartment, and click on the google link, it takes me right back to this new homepage.

Thank you for all the tips above. They've gone into my Paris plan, and I'll soon have some difficult choices, based on only 6 nights.

What a great thread! I am taking my first (and ultimate dream) trip to Paris the beginning of November! I just finally decided to do it, you know? All of these years reading everything about the city, watching every movie set there...and now I am going! I am feeling elated and a bit overwhelmed; of course I must see the main points of interest but am a little shell shocked. This thread was of great help! I have a million questions if any Paris veteran would like to help an old fan from way back

Watching weather here and in Paris! Paris is hot! Making up for a cold July. I see that it is cooling off in early Oct. It will be cooler here when I depart, too, I hope!

Weather has changed all over the world! Nothing 'normal'!

Joan,

Do try to go to l'as a Moelle. My friend who is from Paris recommended to us on our last visit. She said to go if we wanted a treat. It was the best meal of our least visit.

Joan,

I am not sure who Stephane Schmidt is, but it really was our best meal last March. I am still looking at airfare to go over the Christmas holidays. It has really been a tough few months and I think Paris will make me feel good again!

Stephane Schmidt has been the chef at Violon d'Ingres, and now has bought this one. He learned much from Christian over the years and is a fine chef..nice person, too. He just bought it this summer, so your last visit was not under Stephane! It could only be improved upon!!

Go to Paris..always makes you feel better!!

Oh fabulous! Now I really need to convince my husband to go. The food was great in March so if this makes it better...We didn't have reservations in March, we may need them now.

I also meant to ask you if you have been to l'Atelier. We saw the Anthony Bourdain showa nd thought we may like to try it. We tried Le Comptoir last time and the meal was good, but we enjoyed l'as a Moelle better.

Not sure what Joan thinks of L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon but we have been the past two times and we love it.

The first time we had the degustation menu at lunch and it really was a first rate experience...we like that you sent around the bar to the open kitchen. The service has always been top notch, as well. If you go, get the Paillard champagne. We have never seen it anywhere else and it is so good. If it is still warm out and they have the gazpacho with mustard sorbet...get it, it is divine! We also enjoyed Le Comptoir but it is a different experience than L'Atelier.

They have a new location in the 8th, I think. We always go to the one in the 7th and you can reserve online.
