We're looking for a nice place to stay in the Ardennes from which we could explore the thermal spas and the Hautes Fagnes Nature Reserve. I'd really love a castle-hotel, if it is well-kept, but I can't find reviews of these places in English, only French.

Unfortunately their website isn't in English but it looks pretty nice (4 stars). This isn't a castle but there are plenty of reviews of it in English. If you look up Hautes Fagnes in Google Maps it's one of the places in the margin on the left-hand side, and they give links to the reviews. I couldn't link to it directly (in the address bar it just gives the address maps.google.com). Alternatively you could post links to the castle hotels that interest you and see what Fodorites have to say about the properties as many people here speak French.

hello again, Lavandula. If you see this, please know I found the hotel you mentioned above. It looks perfect! I plan to make a reservation there for a couple of days at the end of our trip. Most of their website, I could get a translation into English, and for the rest, I'll have to hope someone there can read English! Thanks again!

Spa is a pretty town in the Hautes Fagnes area. The Radisson BLU Palace and Radisson BLU Balmoral are both very nice hotels.
