Nuremberg (Nurnberg) Hotel and dining

Thinking about staying in Romantik Hotel
AM JOSEPHSPLATZ in Nurnberg for 2 nights.

Reviews look good
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...g_Bavaria.html

Any first hand experiences staying there?
Any suggesttions for good quality dining? Prefer local characteristic restaurants. First night preferrably walking to hotel beacuse of jet lag.
We will have the car with us. Flying from US to Nurenmerg airport and picking car from there.
thank you.
Sophia

My favorite restaurant in Nuremberg's old town is Heilig Geist-Spital, Spitalgasse 16
+49 911 22 1761. In the middle ages, it was a hospital, now a popular, good restaurant with traditional decor and specializing in Franconian cuisine and wines (and beer, of course). I usually order the Nuremberger sausages as a starter and the trout "miller's wife" style (dipped in flour and pan fried) as the main course. Vegetarian options available. Moderately priced. Reservations advised. It's within walking distance of your hotel.

Romantik hotels are usually well regarded so this one should be nice. Does it have parking? We usually stay in the Maritim (has parking) in Nuremberg itself or in the Forsthaus in the village of Kalchreuth on the outskirts.

While you are walking around Nberg, take a look at the wedding sculpture. An amazing piece of work and a pretty amusing take on married life.

Thank you Btilke.
I think this restaurant was mentioned on this board before. I will definetely will give it a try. Sounds yummy.
No vegetarian for me this time, in germany part of experience is local food, wine and beer.

Any other suggestions? I will meet relatives who live in Nurenmbers, for one evening , any suggestions for group dinner?
I will have 2 nights and 3 days there.

The hotel said the do not have parking in the building, there is 250 m parking on the same street, 14 eur per night and they second if park for more than one will be less.

I was also considering le Meridien for a bit more however, we stayed before in Romatic hotels in other countries in Europe and they are very nice. Le Meridien's parking is 14 eur per night as well.

For a quick snack whilst walking around, pop in to the small restaurant just across from the Fountain Beautiful and enjoy the famous Nuremberger sausages--on a bun or a plate. They also have a takeaway window. Yum! Yum!

Cheers,

I love Nuremberg sausages. Eating a big plate of those little sausages with sauerkraut and a brew is one of my guilty pleasures. My favorite place to eat them is the Bratwursthausle that's right in the town hall plaza. This is a great place to mingle with other people as you generally have to share a table.

I think that there are two Romantik hotels in Nuremberg. The AM Josephsplatz has a great location and gets favorable reviews.

Nurembergers are our favorite German sausages. We are lucky--in Brussels, there is a German store that carries them, so we can stock up from time to time. We've promised our neighbors here in Maidenhead that we will throw an Octoberfest (actually a Novemberfest) when we get back from our vacation in Austria and Germany (with a side of Brussels and Bellagio), so we're going to bring back several dozen frozen N'bergers, German mustard and cases of German and Austrian beer (Wolfshoher and Murau, respectively, plus maybe a few bottles of rauchbier and a few radlers). And Gerolsteiner "sprudel" mineral water, Austrian wine, marzipan candy, amd whatever else we can cram into the Laguna.
