Novels to read while traveling

I am looking for suggestions on novels to read while I'm traveling through France, Switzerland and Italy. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything from historical to contemporary. Thanks!

Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino is a good, interesting read.

I just topped my all-time favorite thread on this forum, about great books to read while travling. Many are region-specific, so hopefully you'll find something appealing.

Just finished Hemingway's A Moveable Feast. Wonderful!! You'll love it if you haven't read it already. The Pleasing Hour by Lily King was interesting as well. It's a novel set in France about an au pair with some emotional baggage.

Now reading another classic, James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room.

I second A Movable Feast in Paris. For Italy, "A World Lit Only by Fire" and "The Agony and the Ecstasy"

"Barney's Version" by Mordechai Richler for Paris-check out Rue de Nesle, it is as it was...MR just died recently so the book is especially poignant.
