Norway trip with fam.

My family is taking a trip to Bergen, Oslo , and Copenhagen. We are leaving on a Fri and returning the following Sat. from Newark ,NJ. We are planning on 2 days in Bergen and three In Oslo and Copenhagen. The fjords are def on the itinerary. I could really use recommendations on which city to head to first and what order. We can fly to conserve time from place to place even though I know we will miss a lot of scenery but time is tight because of jobs.

Even though you are leaving from the US you are going to and asking about what to do in a country in Europe. You should post your question on the European forum. You’ll get a lot more responses there.

Given your limited time, give yourself one day to take the Norway in a Nutshell itinerary from Bergen to Oslo.

We very much enjoyed the Norway in a Nutshell. We had been in Copenhagen the week before, then flew to Oslo for a couple nights so that we had a full day there, then did the NIN to Bergen. We stayed in Bergen for a couple nights as well so we could enjoy that city, then flew back to Copenhagen.

Yes, NIN is astounding - boat ride on Norway's largest fjord- we saw whales! Start in Bergen and end by train from Flam to Oslo. For lots on that and trains in general check www.norwaynutshell.com gives general description and chance to book though you can easily do that on your own from Bergen - buy all-inclusive ticket at Bergen train station. Also check www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com for details on NIN and trains in general. You can take a boat from Oslo to Copenhagen - overnight could be fun if get a nice cabin -kind of like a cruise.

2 days was perfect for me in Bergen - nice town but not that big nor that much to see in town but great base for fjords.

We had two days and that was fine. More would have been nice to explore the surrounding area more, but for Bergen itself two days was just right.

So what is the best fjord to see if you picked one trip? Sognefjord?
