Nice trip. You should keep in mind that if it is raining you will be (almost) wasting your time visiting Trolltunga and Pulpit Rock. You may need to wait a day or longer at each location to get good weather.
Are you thinking of going from Bergen to Trolltunga and back on one day? That would be a very, very long day.
You might want to try going to Trolltunga on your way to Bergen or Stavanger. This site might help.

Take Norway in a Nutshell route from Oslo to Bergen - train, ferry and bus. Hire a car in Bergen and do a circular tour from there covering Trolltunga and Pulpit rock. There are plenty of hotels and shouldn't be too busy in September. It's scenic all the way

Voss is a wonderful place. Lots of trails and day trips from there. We stayed at the Hostel on the lake. One of the best places I have ever been to.
You may check legendary Stelheim Hotel near Voss where kaiser William II used to come every year for the breathtaking view.
Norway in a nutshell is truly amazing. Myrdal to Flam and to Gudvangen is the best part of the scenery.
