And to reiterate one thing, buy one of the books they sell at the museums at one of the sites. They are VERY good and complete, good pictures, stories. It is fun to do it yourself, and have lunch, for example on the beach/terrasse at Arromanches.
BUT don't cram. The British/Canadian beaches are on toward Caen and we didn't do much there--did do Pegasus Bridge. And then we went up to St.Mere Eglise--where the paratrooper hung on the church steeple.
