Normandy beach tours from Bayeux

I am interested in tours of the American beach sites from Bayeux excluding Battlebus. They seem to be full on the date we need.

I have never actually tried this with American Beaches, but with the British Beach sites, you can simply drive to them and visit them yourselves.

However, l am unsure as to whether you can do this with American sites, as l found that many of them were in a way commercialised (ie you have to pay for parking, buy American flags etc).

It's best to check with the local tourist office in the region which you will be going to.

Sorry l couldn't be much more help!

Don't know if this will work for you, but it did for us last July! We took train from Paris to Bayeux around 8AM and checked into our hotel (which we booked in advance via email- [email protected])and after lunch walked around the town and came upon a bus which was taking a tour of the beaches. No problem- luck? or is this a good procedure? Give it a try and live dangerously!

I just got back from touring with Normandy beaches with my parents, in their 70's, dad WWII vet...We booked our tour with Victory Tours, http://www.lignerolles.homestead.com/
Stayed in their chateau B&B in the French countryside, Chateau de Lignerolles, and took a private, full day tour in his van. It was wonderful! Can't say enough about it. This is my second time on their tour and I've sent other people to them with rave reviews! He speaks English and other languages fluently, gives a very informative tour and takes you places that commercial tour companies don't go. Check out the web site. I wouldn't go on one of the big bus tours.
