We will be in Normandy in September and are looking for restaurant recommendations for four nights each. We are pretty adventurous about food with the only caveat that is be well prepared. It doesn't seem that the price points are very high at the places I have seen so that isn't a concern.

I have heard good things about La Rapière in Bayeux so think that will be one place. How much in advance would we need to make reservations?

I made reservations in Rouen at Restaurant Gill for my husband's birthday. So we have 3 more nights there or close by.

Also does anyone have any suggestions for a lunch in Honfleur? Near the harbor would be nice - touristy isn't an issue (after all we are tourists) if the food is good.

Any suggestions for places to visit on the Cidre Route?

la Tortue in Honfluer has been recommended to me , but I have never been.

Ate at La Rapiere last fall and it was reasonable and quite good. Not Michelin star quality but I would eat there again.

We ate on the quay in Honfleur.
Au Petit Bistro in Bayeux was the best meal we had in France that year.

In Rouen, you might consider La Couronne for a classic meal.

Well since you aren't sure about where you'll be staying for 3 nights it's hard to make specific recommendations but why not just look at some of the major restaurant review websites once you decide where you're staying? Michelin.com is a good bet as is logis.com or the fork.com or linternaute.com or lefooding.com or even the tourist office websites for smaller places (not like Rouen) usually list all the best restaurants in town. In the Pays d'Auge I would personally recommend a visit to the Domaine Saint-Hippolyte and I'd suggest bringing some dining utensils and your own bread and fruit but they have a great shop there with everything you'd need for a great picnic and you can picnic on the grounds of an old manor that makes cheese and if I remember correctly cidre too. But they at least have everything you'd need for an excellent picnic lunch and the whole region is loaded with cheese and cidre places to visit and the landscapes are just gorgeous. Their products are excellent but their website seems to be down right now so here are links that describes the place and the area:

It wasn't clear if you were in Rouen for 4 nights or somewhere close by. There was nothing in your original post that definitively stated your were in Rouen for 4 nights.

Oh, and especially for you, AGM, don't miss Glaces à la Ferme in Honfleur.

No problem AGM. I'm a bit slow sometimes so perhaps others understood you and it was me who was confused.

StCirq we will definitely keep an eye out for Glaces à la Ferme in Honfleur. Especially since it appears that we will have warmer weather than we expected.

Frenchmystiquetours, I was confused too.

La Tortue and Le Breard in Honfluer are both very good. Had dinner at Le Breard, lunch at La Tortue. Don't recall the restaurant name where I ate dinner my second night on the quai but it wasn't memorable at all. Quai located restaurants do not serve very good food.

In Rouen, La Couronne (1345 House) was excellent for dinner. Don't recall where I ate my other lunches or dinners.

In Rouen we enjoyed the Impressionist wing of their Beaux Artes Musee

If you have a car in Bayeux, there is a sweet waterfront town 7 miles away called Port en Bessin that has several good restaurants and cute shops. We stayed at Chateau du Sully and went to Port en Bessin every night. Our favorite restaurant was Fleur de Sel. There was also a fun farmer's market on Sunday morning.
