Dick, The best sources for homework are:
www.initaly.com
www.itwg.com
www.emmeti.it
www.italiantourism.com
However, you will find alot of good info
on this forum if you search the archives

Several of the regulars are very knowlegable in Italy. In my opinion, you
should plan on 4 mandatory destinations.
THE LAKES---TUSCANY---LIGURIA COAST--AND
VENICE/VENETO/DOLOMITES. I will send you
an article I wrote that may humor you.

Hi! We've traveled through Northern Italy and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Venice is something that must be seen, though the crowds are horrendous. When are you going? we've been there in Sept and it was still mobbed. It has to be seen. We have also enjoyed Verona, which gets its share of tourists but is a wonderful city, which we enjoyed as much as Venice though it is different. It has a great piazza and the Roman arena is not to be missed. If you have time another place to visit in the area is Vicenza. The Dolomites are another great place to visit. we stayed in a town called San Vito, small and nice. Just remember! Bring warm sweatersor jackets, we had snow while going over the passes and mountains in Sept.. We also have stayed in Merano and Bolzano. Merano is very pleasant and nice. Bolzano is also but Merano is a bit better. Another place to think about is Chamonix in France. A great ride up to the mountain on cable cars. we went up Mt. Blanc and it was frosty.. You can actually take the cable cars from there all the way to Italy and back. When we went to the Dolomites we came froim Innsbruck Austria over the Brenner Pass. The passes are magnicent if you can go that way. Enjoy, E-mail me if you have any questions alan
