Yes, I'm afraid I did fail to mention that they were first class tickets. Sorry for the confusion.
Katzen, it was my understanding from Ira that you cannot buy the insurance if you choose the option to print your tickets. (Please jump in here Ira if I misunderstood you)
I wanted to print them to save some time in case our flight was late arriving in Paris.

Hi L
> it was my understanding from Ira that you cannot buy the insurance if you choose the option to print your tickets. (Please jump in here Ira if I misunderstood you)<
As late as mid-January, that was what was happening.
If you chose the insurance option you couldn't print the tickets on line.
However, I tried it this morning.
Guess what?
You CAN print your tickets online if you buy the insurance.
I hope that relying on my out of date info isn't what messed you up, Linda.

Yes Ira, it was you. To make amends, you may deposit $10,000 in my Swiss bank account, number to follow.......just kidding. We takes our chances and we takes our licks.
Kerouac, I do know the meaning of nonrefundable. As it applies to airline tickets, for a fee I can change the date or the routing. Since the SNCF site is translated from French into English, I wasn't sure how literally they meant it to be. But, now I know and I won't repeat my mistake. Hopefully.

Here is the French word for non-refundable >> non remboursable.
Of course since I work for an airline and am in charge of refunds, I will confirm that I can refund anything I feel like refunding, whether it is refundable or not. So you should always ask. I am not a monster and the other refund people are not monsters either, especially if you have purchased something to replace the ticket you didn't use. (Show proof of same.)
