A little background: I have a weakness for a good macchiato, the last time I was in Italy I had no concerns, I drank them every day.

Since then, I have gone off of dairy for health reasons, but I would still love to have a macchiato while I'm there next time.

Do most places have a non-dairy option? If so, what do I ask for?

I am also heading in to Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. Any non-dairy suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I've seen soya option at starbucks in London and Paris, but i highly doubt you can get non-dairy if you ask for a macchiato in most continental cities. You're more likely to get a plain espresso, sans milk foam bits.

You'd probably be hard put to get a macchiato in Amsterdam anyway, no Starbucks culture (yet) thank goodness.
In Holland unless you get a packet of non-dairy creamer you will have to go for black coffee I think. You want to avoid the little pots of "koffie-melk" which you will be offered - that is evaporatied milk. Koffie verkeerd is coffee with loads of milk in it so avoid that too. Non dairy options (except the little packets of powder) are not normally available - this is a major dairy producer and consumer!

haha, yeah I guess so. I guess I'll have to get used to espresso to be on the safe side.
