Colleen,

I go to Bilboquet often, (behind Les Deux Magots)for the food AND the jazz...the groups vary, so some nights after dinner we are there til' the early morning hours, other times we leave to go to the Petit Journal or the Caveau de la Huchette... (Bilboquet has these amazing little copper pots filled with escargot and a garlic cream mushroom sauce that are absloutely heaven!) The best group they have performing is the Jackie Samson quartet.
It is a tiny two story corner place, with glass globe street lamp light fixtures softly illuminating the room and large gilded mirrors on all the walls, white linens and a table on the main level near the balcony is the ideal way to see the band. Eat around 9, music starts at 10-10:30. After dinner, join the band a few steps down and lounge on red velvet cahise lounge/sofas drinking a wonderful Kir...

The Caveau is under ground in the Latin Quarter and is quite smoky, but you can't beat the 'beat' as the band plays big band/swing etc...and people of all ages are doing their updated version of the jitterbug and it is impossible to sit still.

The Petit Journal Montparnasse is a bit more cutting edge and still keeps a lot of it's historical qualitites...
