I for one am sorry you aren't going to do a little of either Provence or Normandy. Day trips from Paris are interesting, but for 2 weeks I think it would be a lot of "going".
And for sure I am not talking about Venice and Rome!! Never would.
There is no doubt that 2 weeks in Paris is fun--have done 10 days several times. Just so much to see and do in other parts.
If you shop for your TGV tickets to Provence they can be dirt cheap--plus lodging and meals can be less than in Paris--which to us is still the bargain capital of western Europe.

Well the OP has made a decision. Most agree it is a reasonable decision so why not let it be now. Someone comes on asking for advice and gets it and then actually LISTENS to it (which is very rare) and now people are continuing to suggest changes.
Time to put down your personal preferences and congratulate Melissa on being one of the few posters who has actually used the Forum in the correct way.

"There is no "correct" way to use this forum."
Agreed, but definitely incorrect ways, according to the editors and unofficial enforcers, to my amusement recently. But I figure, nothing ventured, nothing gained. What a dull world if no one pushed the boundaries (in my opinion, of course).

OP may have made their decision, but I have to chime in with Stu and Gretchen about Provence. I have been to Paris four times and love it, but after a week or so, I am ready for a couple of nights in a quiet village somewhere or a smaller city with a nice central square or plaza for evening sitting. Just sayin'.
