if you think a question is beneath your worldly travel knowledge, hit the scroll button, who says you have to answer every question? what happen to free speech? go ahead and ask that question about atm or how you get from an airport to city center. i've been been reading this forum for over two years and i feel a great deal of eltism as entered. ie look at the person that questionen if people have really traveled to all these destinations. boy did it get nasty, then a new thread starts stump the chumps in europe, so sorry stump the experts of europe. nasty and childish. let the flames begin. away who cares!!!

Well, it seems to me that there are three types of people who use this thread..legitimate questions, however repetitive and mundane, egomanics like Elvira (needs her very own thread..she is so verbose), and people who just want to "vent" and be rude. I am suggesting to Foders that they edit all script before it is logged in and try to keep the issue to the issues. Also, when one person responds ALL the time, they should put limits--then we wouldn't have to scroll a country mile to see if there is anything of any value for us to notice.

If you have a question and DON'T use the search function, whether you post or not, you are NOT using this forum to its full potential. I answer questions constantly (as some of you may have noticed...) but there are times that I DON'T FEEL LIKE repeating (I do it enough as it is...) and hope that the poster do a little extra digging. I refer, and will continue to refer posters to the search forum. Oh, and by the way, Sandi (or whoever you REALLY are...), when you can prove that you know at least half as much as Elvira, then maybe, just maybe you may critique her. Not a second before, dear.

"Sandi," you sound like the type of wacko who keeps infecting the US forum, posting under different names and keeping idiotic threads going to rile people up. Leave Elvira and the rest of us alone--we're way ahead of you and frankly, in the big leagues. Stick to Disneyworld. (The only reason I'm posting is that this is already way up on the forum--otherwise I'd let it go.)

Sandi, you are so right about people like Elvira. She posts as if her opinion is the gospel truth and no one should dare contradict her. And check out her rantings and ravings on some earlier posts when people here called her on the carpet for smoking in non-smoking areas in Paris! Not only did she brag about it, she was completely unapologetic or even remorseful; she lashed out at everyone instead. <BR> <BR>Oh and Maira honey, darling, sweetie, sugarbritches, when Elvira can PROVE she is anything other than a self-centered egomaniac, perhaps she'll be treated with more respect here. <BR> <BR>

The thing is, elvira is a "legend in her own mind" and if she did half the stuff she says, she wouldn"t have time to write. Chances are, she is a little old lady, who lived in a "home" and is phastasizing over her noon day mush! <BR>Lets hear from the real travelers.

I seldom respond, and usually pass by the idiotic, but it is really scary how many nuts seem to use this "forum" as a vehicle to vent hostility, nonsence, and down right manic notions. Geeze! a shrink could have a field day. Why don't you guys get a forum of your own when you can bash each other to heart's content. And I must agree that Elvira's experiences, as told by her, border on the unreal...that's why she should write a book, go elsewhere to exhibit her "literary" self. If real travelers took her advice, they would be in "deep greese". She is not for the unwary.!

The DSM grows bigger every day? Ooooh!! Perhaps someone stuffed in some haggis in a tube?? <BR> <BR>Actually, I think it's shamey on all of us (myself included) for perpetuating threads that are laden with mean-minded, snipey, insulting posts. A few weeks of ignoring the obnoxious would soon send them to other playgrounds, and we might return here to the intelligent, illuminating, humorous exchanges that made Fodors such a delightful browse -- trip on the horizon or no. Oh, for the days of yore!

I found this forum a little over a year ago and most of the time have truly enjoyed visiting. It provided wonderful tips and guides for our last trip, and other suggestions I disagreed with and chose not to use. <BR>This forum is a way to "request" help on itineraries, routes, accomodations, luggage, transportation, how to survive a Paris restaurant, etc. In many cases, posts ask for clarifications of "rumors" we have heard (closed tunnels, poor hotels, strikes, rude Parisiennes, theft, etc). <BR>The postings responses are sometimes facts (strikes/closings) but mostly "opinions" based on experience. If we feel there is merit, many of us obviously try to reciprocate by sharing our exploits and "opinions". If there is disagreement, why cannot there be decension without personal diatribe? This is a travel forum, not a psychiatrists couch!!!! <BR>

Well, well Mary Ann, <BR> <BR>I have a recliner for you. <BR> <BR>Here, sit back and tell me all about it. <BR> <BR>Without the use of the imagination, new worlds would never be discovered. <BR> <BR>Didn't your mother ever tell you that if you kept digging in the sand you'd reach China. I would persist all day, in between swimming the surf, and was convinced I could see signs of life the further down I digged. <BR> <BR>Go beyond itinerary, road closings, best hotels and tourist couter and discover the universal currency, a smile. Use it and you get the best exchange rate anywhere in the world. <BR> <BR>Betty
