New terminal opening at CDG

Actually, the new “S3” satellite that was inaugurated today is not exactly a new terminal – it’s an extension of terminal 2E, where Skyteam (AF/DL/AZ/CO/NW/KE, etc.) passengers will check in before taking yet another brand new automated rail shuttle called “Lisa” for a 45-second ride. It has 26 boarding gates, including 6 for the A-380, so complaints about using buses to the planes should diminish. The building is 750 meters long and contains vast shopping areas, as CDG finally gets in line with other world airports.

Meanwhile, terminal 2E will completely reopen in March 2008 (after the partial collapse in 2004). Terminal 2G for small regional carriers will open in October 2008. The full renovation of Terminal 1 will finally be completed by the end of 2008, not a moment too soon.

After that, the next big change won’t occur until 2012 when the “S4” satellite opens – as it will be a clone of the S3, I presume it will be attached to terminal 2F.

Thanks for posting this. As an NWA flyer I can't wait to stop exercising my toe muscles on those bus rides. That's been just ridiculous.

Great news for many of us!! When there in February I asked when they expected all the busing to end. I was told that it was supposed to be ready by summer.
My next trip is October, so I should see the improvements!!

Thanks for the update!!

New Terminal S
Terminal S3

Thanks for the info, Kerouac!
I was told I'd be flying into Terminal S and expressed surprise. The travel agent had never heard of it either. So I just knew I would find what I needed on Fodors!
