New restrictions in the Netherlands
As some of you know covid numbers are through the roof here so the government has (finally) announced new restrictions.
Basically everything but essential shops (food and pharmacy) will only be open from 5am (at the earliest) until 5pm from Sunday. Masking wearing is required as is 1.5 metre distancing. initially this is for three weeks, but I fully expect it to be extended.

Note that you still cannot put US vaccinations onto the Dutch Covid app, and that app is needed for entry in to cafes restaurants etc etc.

Can a US citizen with a Passe Sanitaire from France get into a restaurant, cafe, or museum before 5PM ? From what you have posted, It seems that the US citizen can not get into these places with just a US CDC card.

Yes another EU pass is acceptable. The Netherlands does not have in place a way to put most foreign vaccinations on their app. There are a couple of places where it can be done, but they are meant for students and returning expats not short term visitors.

If the paper passe sanitaire has a QR code and is international, rather than the local French only version it will be valid. I assume the French work with the same system as the Dutch, one for local use and one, with more information on it, for international use. That is what was agreed by the EU. They should be asked for ID as well, but often that doesn't happen.
Public transport will be unaffected, masks are required.

Yep, though I guess the fact so many people are now doing home testing means only those most likely to have it are getting PCRs.
Meanwhile those of us who were forced to have the Astra Zeneca can't get our booster because of the 12 week wait between the first two jabs, meaning though De Jonge is calling us up for the booster the six months isn't up yet. Can't even make an appointment online because as soon as you say it is less than 6 months the site stops you going further. out. God forbid they should bend the rules a bit for those of us least protected now.
A doctor friend says they see mostly unvaccinated, the very old and frail, or people with an underling condition in their hospital. Sometimes the underlying condition was previously undetected due to a reluctance to visit GPs.

They don't allow you to make an appointment online if you say it is less than 6 months ago, and DH saw them turn people away in Leeuwarden. They were checking the vaccine certificates and on a computer. two different checks and you only got the jab if the second one said OK. Too many have tried (and succeeded) in jumping the queue.
Anyway from tomorrow the time is reduced to three months so I shall try again then.
Other restrictions extended to January 14th, with maybe more being imposed next week thanks to omicron.
Looks like Christmas is cancelled again though .
Have to feel for the small shops and the hospitality and culture industries.
