I saw tennis courts on the taxi ride from FCO to Rome, by the Sheraton hotel which is somewhat on the outskirts of the main part of the city. Not sure if they were connected to the Sheraton or a private club. I'm sure your hotel concierge can direct you to a club- we have done that before.
I think the Cavalieri Hilton also has courts--not sure if a non guest can use or not.

I'll accept for a moment that it is vitally important that you play tennis while in Venice. Maybe you have a tennis scholarship that is putting you through college - - what do I know?

This might be one good reason to stay on Lido. Not only can you more get more hotel for the price than in Venice proper, but you can find places that offer tennis. See Hotel Cristallo - - www.veneziahotels.com - - for example.

Same for Hotel Panorama - - www.hpanorama.com/soggiorno.htm - - in Italian only.

I think there is also a Tennis club Venezia al Lido, but I haven't located any information about it on the internet (yet).

Best wishes,

Rex
