Need recommendations for tours in Venice

Hi everyone! I am going to Venice in May as an "inbetween" stop (rather than sitting on a long train from Salzburg to Florence that will last a one full day). I'm arriving in Venice at 6pm on a Thursday (my hotel is right next to the train station), have all day Friday, and leaving around 9am on Saturday.

I KNOW this is an INCREDIBLY SHORT time for Venice, but like I said, it's an "inbetweener". Could anyone recommend good walking and/or canal tours that at least "hit" the major sites (even if those stops are brief)? I've never been to Venice and don't know much about the history there, so I would like to have a knowledgable guide showing me around.

I'm looking for a good group tour at a reasonable rate (no more than 25 Euro if possible).

Thanks!

Hi goferfan! I am not familar with tour group and their guides in Venice but I Googled Group walking tours in Venice and came up with the website. You can review if and see if it is what you are looking for. Again, I am not recommeding it as I have never taken a guided tour in Venice. But hopefully this website might be what you are looking for. If not you can go to Google and type in what I did and see if there are any other walking tours that interest you. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy beautiful Venice.http://www.tours-italy.com/venice-ci...enice_walk.htm

Thanks LoveItaly--I actually did look at that site and thought it looked good, and that's what got me thinking to ask Fodorites of their experiences with walking tours. I've never done one, and don't want to waste my money on any tours that might be way too long and slow.

Viator also offers tours of Venice. We didn't use them there, but we did 2 of their tours in Rome and really enjoyed them.
