Trains run every 30 minutes - the trip is 20 minutes - the fare for the day I chose was 3.10 Euro

I'm not sure which type of train runs from Nice to Canne, but be aware that a local train may be slightly rickety. I took the TGV from Lyon to Nice, and was taken aback by the difference in the train I took from Nice to Monaco. Not sure how extensively you've traveled by train in Europe, but I just want you to be more prepared than I was!

We took a tour from Nice to Cannes, Antibbes and Grasse (perfume factory). It was an air conditioned van that seated 6-8 but it was just our family of 4 on the tour. It only took 1/2 day and we saw all we wanted to see.
Also took the train to Monaco (20 minutes or so) and it was fantastic.
