Need London Tips in a Hurry
My husband just surprised me and our 16-year old son with a five day trip to London for Thanksgiving. We've never been there before. I need suggestions on Hotels or apartments, etc. Can spend about $300-$400 US per night but would really like two sleeping rooms (or at least sleeping privacy for adults) with at least 1 bathroom, preferably 1-1/2 bathrooms. (Son could have his own area and own bathroom.) Any ideas in the Hyde Park, Mayfair, Knightsbridge areas? Tips most appreciated.

Checkout the Sheraton Park Towers or The Park Lane in Knightsbridge. http://srd.yahoo.com/srst/8011430/st...odlodging.com/

I'm heading that way too at the same time. Try the Radisson chain. I think you could get 2 rooms for under $400 a night. The rates seem good. Also, I go to lastminute.com I have never used them...but they come highly recommended by others on this site. ( NOTE: Your husband sounds like a very thoughtful man!) Happy Trails.

Cheryl, My husband & I will be there around the same time as you, but will be touring the rest of Europe before we get there. Of all the planning, London has been the most challenging because you get less and pay more. I suggest looking into www.unitedvacations.com and best western guestcheques voucher program and www.hoteldiscounts.com. So far, they seem to be the most promising I've found. If you are considering a bed & breakfast, which some of them are especially designed for families, B & BNet has a good site. Good luck and have fun!

Next week, I'm going to London with my two children and husband. This will be our third trip in as many years. Each time we have rented a two bedroom apartment located close to the Baker Street tube off Marylebone Road. Contact McGlashans at 44-171-4866711 or [email protected]. They have 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments. The 2 bedroom apartments that we've rented in the past also had ensuite bathrooms and a guest half bath on the main floor. Rent for a two bedroom is 140 - 160 GBP while a three bedroom will run 180GBP. Enjoy your trip.

Just got back from London (beautiful!). We stayed at the Sloane Hotel which I don't think will have the accomedations you're looking for but it was in the Kensington/Chelsea area which was a 10-20 minute walk to just about everything. Can't wait to go back! You'll have a marvelous time!
You're a lucky girl!

I stayed in London for two months last year, and rented a nice two bedroom apartment in W1 from a company call Farradays/Earlchester. They have a building which is entirely short term rentals on a very nice and conveniently located street - the apartment wasn't super luxury, but was very clean, had a full kitchen and bath and a free laundry room in the basement. The rent for one week (the minimum) is about 750 pounds, and you can find more info on their site www.faradays.com Best of all, one of the nicest food shop/restaurants in London, Villandry's is just across the street.

Just a suggestion -
Be sure to go to the Tower of London - either on its own , or on a Hop-on-Hop-off tour - I enjoyed it emensely (sp?) and I would think a 16 yr old would enjoy hearing all the stories of beheadings and the trickery that went on in the tower.

very cool.
