Message: I have made reservations to stay at the Grist Mill Cottage of Owlpen Manor in early June, 2002. Has anyone stayed there? I have just read a couple of reviews and am concerned that this wouldn't be the place to stay. There will be 7 of us(including 3 children). We are looking for self-catering accommodations in the cotswold, preferably not in a touristy spot. We love the quiet and would like to find great places to hike.

Stop in at any of the local tourist offices in the area and pick up a list of the B&Bs. Pick your area and start calling. We had no trouble finding a place during the month of June when the tourist season is high. In fact we stayed at a small B&B in the village of Lower Slaughter and loved the village after all the tourists were gone. There is also a beautiful small hotel that we enjoyed an evening meal. If you want to cut costs eat in the bar. Everything mentioned in your replies have hit the high spots. If you get up to Worster visit the Royal Worster china factory. They have several shops as well as a second shop. Catch it on a good day and bargains are available. In Snowshill there is a great pub (in a great setting) that is ideal for lunch. <BR>Take a camera and good map and don't be afraid (or rushed) driving the narrow country roads. Enjoy
