Need immediate hotel help for Paris---anyone stayed at Claude Bernard?

Going to Paris and must make hotel reservations this weekend. The only hotel with availability for my dates is the Claude Bernard. Can anyone tell me anything about this hotel? Thank you.

Have not stayed at the Claude Bernard, but friends did about 6 months ago and although they did not rave about it, they had no complaints. I've stayed just down the street at the Hotel St. Jacques, and liked the area.

If you do a search for "Claude Bernard" you should find other posts. You may also want to try the website:http://www.paris-resa.com/ You type in your dates and it will tell you what hotels have availability; it might give you some other choices.

fran-
We stayed at the Claude Bernard from July 26-31st this year. We thought that the hotel was fine, for the price (we paid less than $100 per night). We had to be moved from our first room because the air conditioner wasn't working. We were placed in a very small room after that, but it had working AC - which was important because it was very hot that week. We were able to glance into some rooms while walking past, and they all looked much nicer than ours! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we thought that the location was fine.

We stayed at the Claude Bernard April 2000. They were in the middle of renovation, so things were a little torn apart, but the staff was wonderful and very helpful and kind. The location was very centrally located. My husband and I arrived at separate times, both taking the train from the airport and disembarking at St Michel/Notre Dame and walking the short distance to the hotel. The Maubert Mutualite metro stop was only a block or so away from the hotel. The room was larger than most rooms in Paris and adequately meet our needs. We felt very safe in the area. We would stay here again.
