My friend and I will be spending a weekend in Dingle in early August. We observe the Sabbath so whilewe don't travel on Saturdays, we do hike- and so we would like to stay someplace close to the most scenic areas in Dingle so we can walk to them on saturday.
We couldnt find any great places near Inch Beach. Does anyone know of any?
If not- what about Garvey's Farmhouse? or Seaview B and B? these are located in Ventry. Would that give us some hikes/ walking trails?

Consider hiking the Slea Head Loop, with its concentration of scenery and history - the Galarus Oratory and the Famine Museum, to name just two. It's thirty miles around, and it begins and ends in Dingle Town. The Lighthouse B&B there was our favorite lodging of all. www.lighthousedingle.com. Email Dennis or his wife, and I'm sure they can recommend accomodations about halfway around the loop.

An added interest, as if you needed it, is that Slea Head is the westernmost point of Europe.

We loved Mount Eagle lodge in Ventry--right on the bay and nice people.

We actually missed Sleahead - we drove right past it! We hear there's a road sign on the tip of the strand that points to Boston.

Beware of one tourist trap out there. I can't remember the name, but it's a pivate "museum" owned and run by an American, who took our eight euros each, to let us look at his wares, which weren't much. The locals must know him. It's always good to ask first and pay later.

I looked, and it's probably the Musaem Chorca, eight miles west of Dingle. I would hate to be wrong, so ask for yourself. And now I think it was three euros per, not eight.

There was one other funky setup like that - a three-euro look at a genuine beehive - but which was not at all as interesting as the Gallarus Oratory just up the road. I'm sure there are others that locals can tell you about.

But don't miss the Famine Museum. That's real.

I would suggest Annascaul as a base. Situated along the road between Inch beach and Dingle town, it has a great hike (half of it car free) up the mountain behind, past Annascaul Lake. If you're good enough and have the right gear, you could hike all the way to the top and see the views on both sides of the peninsula. When you're ready to drive, Slea Head, Killarney, Dingle, Killorglin etc are all within easy distance. I live an hours drive from Annascaul, so I've never needed to test out the accommodation available, but this place seems to be right in the middle of the village

If you're interested in staying right on Slea Head Drive, try Slea Head Farm B&B. It's a beautiful spot; the scenery is breathtaking. Looks out over the Blaskets.

We've rented a cottage that is right across the road twice and would go back in a heartbeat. Truly the most beautiful spot we've ever visited.
