Need help - May 2005
I am looking for suggestions on my trip I am taking in May 2005. I will be traveling w/ my husband & in-laws - flying in/out of Rome. My in-laws are from a small town called San Donato - which is east of Rome, between Frosinone & Saro. We will be spending 2/3 days in San Donato - but would like to spend the remaining 7/8 days exploring. I have been to Tuscany and places north of Tuscany last year - so not too sure if I want to head up that way again. So I think I could be interested in exploring the east coast of Italy or places South of Rome. I would like to concentrate on smaller towns, not Rome on this trip. We would be up for renting a villa & doing day trips or staying a couple different hotels.
Thanks for your help!

I would explore Puglia. This is the region that I want to see next in Italy. Some towns that sound iteresting are Alberobello and Polignano.
Here are some sites to check out:

I picked up the two hotel sites from past posts on this board, there's a lot of good info. on this site for Puglia. Just type "Puglia" into the search box and sift through.

Wow, I see someone has at last beat me to recommending grottapalazzese. We spent three or four nights there and it was magical, not to mention a great base for exploring the area.
Matera is interesting and also made a great stop for a couple of days, but Poginano di Mare was magnificent.
