need help identifying statue in Ponta Delgada

While visiting A Arruda pineapple plantation in Ponta Delgada, I snapped a photo of a statue of a woman in a long robe sitting on steps. There was no info available that I could find. Is anyone with this statue? Thank you.

I have no knowledge of Ponda Delgada...

Hazarding a guess it was Mary...

dotheboyshall-That's the statue. Like you said, I don't think it's Mary. I had not thought about e-mailing them. Good idea Cathinjoetown. Thanks!

I would be very surprised if that's Mary, too much boob which might be okay if she were holding baby Jesus.

Pineapple queen? I learned something new, did not know they grew pineapples in Portugal.
