Hotels (moderately priced) in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo?

We are going to Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo in June and are looking for hotels that are walking distance from many of the tourist sites (or else there's public transportation nearby), not too large and sterile (charming would be nice) and priced in the $135-$160 range. With the dollar being stronger, I'm hoping hotels with these qualifications can be found. Suggestions?

I was recently pricing hotels for a pre-cruise stay in Copenhagen. All three of the following are within walking distance of city attractions and public transportation. The first two may be a bit "sterile" for your tastes, but the third is not.

Wakeup Borgerdgade
Cabinn City
Hotel Bethel

I just booked Wakeup Borgerdgade in Copenhagen and Radisson Blu Viking in Stockholm, both at a discount through booking.com. For Oslo I went with an apartment from AirBnB - I am doing Norway with my sister and after a Hurtigruten cruise I figured we could use the extra room, not to mention saving on food costs.

The Square in Copenhagen is in a good location. The Admiral is charming is you are ok with quirky shaped rooms. Not sure if either fits into your budget, if not you'll need to look at Wakeup style hotels or Cabinn City - which is in a very good location.

Also, do you want AC? I'm traveling in July-August, and am booking hotels with AC I can cancel if it turns out I don't need it. In June you'll probably be OK, but be aware that not many hotels, even more expensive ones, have it.

I like Cabinn City in Copenhagen, not the most charming, but clean, safe and the location is really good. In Oslo I have stayed at Thon Hotel Astoria, great location and reasonable prices.

I'll check out these recommendations. Thanks. Weather looks to be around 60-65 degrees when we're there in June--no need for AC.

We stayed at Hotel Bethel last June. Loved the location. Breakfast was good and included in the price which was a good savings. Hotel desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again for sure.

I can also recommend the Hotel Bethel. The hotel is not fancy, room decor might be dated, but is clean and the location on the Nyhavn Canal can't be beat. We had a canal view from our room for our family of four. You are soooo close to everything here.

<<Weather looks to be around 60-65 degrees when we're there in June--no need for AC.>> Weather is difficult to predict so precisely in Copenhagen. It could be far warmer (as it was last year) or far colder (as it seems to be this year, so far anyway).

Yeah, weather is difficult to predict. I was in Copenhagen in May last year. By the preceding logic, I would have needed A/C even less than those people visiting there in June. No so. I was there when it hit 79F two days in a row staying on a top floor room facing south. The room was mid 80F's until past midnight. It was hot hot hot!

Oslo - Ellingsen pensjonat is affordable and great value: http://www.ellingsenspensjonat.no/
http://www.booking.com/hotel/no/elli...nat.en-gb.html

Quiet but very central. Two minutes walking to fashionable Bogstadveien/Hegdehaugsveien with plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping. Close to the Vigeland park. Five minutes walking to the Royal Castle, ten minutes walking to the main street Karl Johan and 15 minutes walking to the sea and Aker Brygge. http://www.visitoslo.com/

We stayed in Copenhagen for two days before a Baltic cruise
Stayed at Hotel Neptun
This hotel is in a central yet quiet area, one block from Nyhavn Harbour
Nice boutique hotel, breakfast included
Think we paid less than $150 per night
We had 5 rooms and everyone was pleased
Secured through booking.com

Some affordable and good restaurants in Oslo.

Curry & Ketchup, Indian restaurant. Been going here regularly for some fifteen years. Consistently fine quality. Close to Ellingsen: http://www.yelp.no/biz/curry-og-ketchup-oslo

Tasty Thai, great food, no alcohol. Close to Ellingsen: http://www.tasty-thai.no/

Dovrehallen, traditional Norwegian. Dagens (today's) is a bargain: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...rn_Norway.html

Lunch deal at TGI Friday: http://fridays.no/

Lunch deal at Peppe's pizza, Hegdehaugsveien. Close to Ellingsen. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Peppe...75428769156984

Very helpful Sadly the Oslo Ellingsen B&B is sold out for the nights we need it. So is the Bethel in Copenhagen.

Check out Ibis hotels, they tend to be very reasonable. Also, Choice Nordic and Best Western. We have stayed at all of these chains in Scandinavia and found them to be quite well prices, clean, well located and most have breakfast included.
