Need help for a weekend in Madrid

I'll spend a weekend in Madrid next September and need some advice of what to do in that short period of time. Restaurants, bars and nightife tips are also welcome.
Thanks,
Nino

Nino: You must visit two museums--The Prado and (I believe this is the name) Museo de la Reina de Sofia. This museum isn't far from the Prado so you won't be running all over Madrid. Ciao!

Our biggest regret concerning our recent visit to Madrid was
not being there on a Sunday morning ... everybody says that
a visit to the Rastro (flea market) is a must.

For some info on Restaurants, Tapas bars and sightseeing, see

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...nca&x=17&y=10&

Paulo
Definitely visit the Prado. I also enjoyed the Royal Palace and there's a very nice park called the Parque Retiro that was fun to visit on the weekend if the weather is nice.

Sit in the Plaza Mayor and enjoy a drink and some tapas while people watching.
We enjoyed all three museums in the "Golden Triangle"-the Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, and we're not "art people."
Walk down the streets near the Palacio Real, and go into the shops and bakeries-make sure you sample some of the food!
Walk through the Puerta del Sol-some call it Times Square of Spain and again, people watch.
We found Madrid to be a wonderful city to walk around it, enjoy the parks and the people.
