Need advice with Helvetic Airlines
I will be spending 3 weeks in Europe and will be flying from Switzerland to Rome on Hevetic Airlines to board a cruise ship. After booking, I realized that they have very strict baggage weight limitations. The maximum weight for checked luggage is 40 lbs per person. This seems next to impossible considering how long we will be traveling and especially going on a cruise.
My questions, can I load up the heaviest things in a carry on tote bag? The dimensions for checked luggage is 203 cm. Does anyone know what dimensions this works out to be (length x width x heigth)? I'm not familiar with metric measurements. Thanks for your help.

If your carry-on looks big and heavy (or sometimes even if it doesn't!)they will weigh it.
More and more European airlines are starting to apply their weight limits for carry-ons very strictly. Last month, whilst checking in for a flight to Corfu, both mine and my husband's carry-ons were weighed, even though they were both definitely within the size limits. Mine was about a pound overweight, whilst my husband's was about a pound under and we were told to
swap some stuff over from mine to his!

Thank you! It's hard for me to imagine such strict weight restrictions on these European airlines when people go for several weeks of travel (or as in our case a land AND a cruise)at a time. Do they think everyone is on a weekend trip!
I looked into shipping a piece of luggage overseas and found out it would cost more than paying the overweight, by a lot.
