need advice on this apartment in Granada
Hi, we try to rent apartments where possible since with the four of us, it's usually roomier, and it's cheaper than getting 2 hotel rooms.
In Granada, found this apartment. http://www.vrbo.com/181071 What drew me are the views from the balcony. The owner has been a sweetheart about responding to my e-mails.
The only drawback is that they don't have AC, but the owner told me it wouldn't be necessary. Is this area safe? Is the area convenient to the sights. We don't mind doing some walking. It is in the Albayzin, which I have read is NOT as central as the Cathedral area.

Yes, the apartment, in Casa Grenadine, is in the Albayzin, at the top of the hill, across from the Alhambra, as you can see in the photo. There's nothing wrong with the area, but having A/C will depend on what time of the year you are planning on being in Granada. It does get warm in the summer.
It's not central to the Cathedral area, but it's not that far of a walk if you don't mind walking. Remember, Granada has a lot of hills.

The rental period is mid-August. I think the owner said something about fans and the house having thick walls. I'm generally not a big fan of AC (I get cold really quickly), but on the other hand, if it's too hot to sleep, that's no fun either. How hot does Granada get in August?

It's in a residential neighborhood, the historical quarter of the Albayzin, so shopping for food shouldn't be a problem.
In case you don't have their own web page, it's:

As good as it gets as long as you don't mind the relatively steep ascent up from Plaza Nueva/Plaza Santa Ana. On the hill opposite of Alhambra and close to the Cathedral.

Based on statistics from the past 13 years, in mid-August you can expect day temperatures from 32°C to 36°C, cooling down to 14°C to 17°C at night.

That ´s really funny because we stayed at la casa Grenadine last summer. We had a wonderful time !
I can confirm that the location is perfect (close to the restaurants and bars of the Albaycin - easy walk to all the tourists sites).
The house has amazing terraces in front of the Alhambra Palace... we spent hours there !! It is simple but nicely decorated (warm feel) and very comfortable (reliable wifi, washing machine, dryer, cable tv, DVD player with movies, plenty of books, etc..). The owners are friendly and helpful. The house has great reviews on vrbo.
