NEED ADVICE ON THIS AIRFARE!
My flight: Newark-Paris - nonstop
10/7-10/14 (Sat-Sat)

Have called many agencies, consolidators, etc. Am on hold with one for $515 (everything included) This seems to be the best at this point. Again, this is nonstop which I prefer.

Any feel for chances of better deals coming or should I book this? Right now I'm leaning toward taking this.

Appreciate your comments.

Bob

Hi Bob,
Two suggestions. First, check out www.tiss.com, which I've often found to have the best fares, and then, second, buy your ticket, stop worrying about it, and get on with the fun part of trip planning.

You know, aggressive shopping for hotel or train or car rental deals in Europe can easily negate a slight over-payment for airfare, and then some. You can get a lot of help on this forum in those areas.

You might want to check TISS (www.tiss.com) and see what they can do for you. When I did a Newark-Paris search, they listed a variety of flights for under $500 (but that's pre-tax).

For example, they appear to have a few seats left on direct Air Canada flights between Newark and CDG, for the dates you want, for $402 pre-tax (taxes, they say, run about $53).

Still, if you can't get TISS to come through, $515 during shoulder season for a non-stop isn't too bad. It's the fare bestfares.com is currently advertising. There's always the possibility of some kind of crazy airfare sale, of course, and since you are four months out you might want to wait a bit longer and see if you can turn up something better.

Bob,
I echo the comments of a number of other respondents; it's a good fare. Could you beat it? Possibly if you were to travel between Tuesdays and Thursdays rather than Saturday to Saturday. You might want to explore that possibility since mid week fares are usually somewhat less expensive that week end prices.
