national express bus from heathrow to bath

we will be arriving at terminal 4 at 7:40 am on April 19 and would like to take bus to bath.
From terminal 4 it takes over 4 hours and lowest price is 22 pounds but from terminal 3 central bus station takes just 2 and a half hour costing 10 pounds. Those are senior tickets which are amenable and refundable. Why the price difference and should we purchase tickets ahead of time. It appears fairly easy to get from terminal 4 to central bus station. we are hoping to take 10:15 bus- do we have enough time. any help appreciated
Thanks

The buses from T4 are not direct to Bath - they involve changes in Bristol or Swindon - which is why they take longer.

I think you misread the terms of the £9.80 fare - it says amendable NOT refundable. If you don't buy in advance, I think there is a good chance the fare will be higher on the day of travel.

Unless your plane is seriously late, you should have no trouble making the 10:15 coach. In normal circumstances, you should expect to be at the central bus station by 9:00.

No idea why. I suspect you'll find the journey from T4 is a quirk of the computer system and assumes you're going to London and back out again. Without checking, I suspect that journey might actually get you to Bath slightly earlier than the bus from T1/3.

Trains (free) take about 10 minutes from T4 to T1/3. You easily will make it unless your air carrier messes up absurdly. National Express is often relaxed about letting airport passengers taking a later bus if they miss the one that booked on

Have you thought of catching a coach from Heathrow to Reading Railair-then a train to Bath?

The Reading Railair departs Heathrow Terminal 5 about every 20 mins arrives in Reading in 45min. Trains from Reading to Bath run every hour travel time is about an 1 hour.

The NX website only looks at NX coaches. It doesn't know that you can easily get between T4 & the Central Bus Station at LHR by using the shuttle train or a local bus. Thus the discrepancy.
