Naples to Riccione
I am going to be in Naples and a friend of mine needs to go to Riccione for a day. What is the quickest and most cost effective way to get there?......Train?
Also has anyone ever heard of the Hotel Il Convento? Its near Piazza del Plebiscito.

Check out www.fs-on-line.com for Italian trian schedules/fares. I put in Naples - Riccione, and there seems to be several options, including the Eurostar high-speed trains (which would probably be a good thing, considering it's a minimum 6-hour trip). You might try seeing how expensive it is to rent a car. Try autoeurope or a site like orbitz and see what comes up. In any case, it's a fairly long trek from Naples to Riccione -- don't know if a day trip is really possible.

Also, be very careful if you drive in Naples. There are no rules (red lights and all other traffic signals are completely ignored), so be extremely careful. Remember that as a pedestrian, too.

Hello Garry,

As Emily says, that's a heckova long day-trip, - 12-14 hours travelling!

The current train timetable shows the following:

Naples dep / Riccione arr
04.40 .............11.40
05.35 .............12.48
06.21 .............13.15
07.30 .............13.40

Riccione dep / Naples arr
14.15 .............20.30
15.08 .............21.56
15.41 .............22.30
17.07 .............23.39

An cheaper alternative by public transport might be Naples-Pescara by coach, then Pescara-Riccione by train, - but time-wise I don't think it makes much difference.

Has your friend considered travelling overnight?

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve
