Hi David! My name is Joedy and I am from Texas and I live in Naples now. I asked my Italian friends and they said that there is a bus that leaves like every hour from the Piazza Municipio (right by the Castel Nuovo). However, they are quite sure that it does not run that late in the evening. How and where will you be arriving? Airport or Train Station? I also asked if the train goes there but it does not. It only goes as far a Sorrento. Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you!

Joedy

Hey David!
Well, if are flying into the Naples airport and do not want to take a Taxi, take the bus that is right outside the airport...it is number 15. It's last stop is Piazza Garibaldi (you will see all the busses there.) Do not confuse it with the 2 piazzas that it stops at before...it is REALLY big and you'll know! From there at the same stop the bus drops you off at you take the R2 bus that goes to Piazza Trento & Trieste. It goes right to Piazza Municipio (You will see the Castle) and that is where the bus to Positano leaves from.
Are you coming for vacation? I hope you can maybe keep in touch because I want to bring my mom over here NEXT september and I want to know what your experience is during that time. Thanks and I hope you have a great trip!
Joedy

If you must take a taxi, you can prearrange one with the hotel you will be staying at for about 180,000 lire for a one way trip from either naples airport or downtown Naples (about 230,000 for a van). I believe that there are 4 "Marozzi" buses a day which run directly from Naples airport to Sorrento. You can then take a SITA bus from Sorrento to Positano. Must see trips include Capri, Sorrento and Almalfi (and possibly the many smaller Amalfi towns such as Ravello) which are all easy to get to from Positano.
