Mykonos hotel help please
Hi. Just starting to plan first trip to Greek islands for July. I am considering 7 nights in Mykonos..Is this too many?
Also, please recommend a luxury hotel with a great pool and within walking distance of everything in town. I'm looking to spend roughly $200 to $250/night and would prefer a suite as we have a baby...Help!

I honeymooned last Sept and went to Santorini then Naxos then Mykonos then drove to Eviah. Mykonos was my least favorite. Really depends on what you prefer. I was not there for the nightlife and other than that, there are much greater beaches and sites at other islands. 3 days would be sufficient!

Hello! Are you only going to one island (Mykonos)? If so, I would say that 7 nights is a bit long since it's your first trip. While there, make sure to do a trip to Delos.

Last fall, I stayed at the Semeli Hotel and really enjoyed it. Request a room with a balcony but away from the pool and adjoining outdoor bar for less noise.
http://www.semelihotel-mykonos.com/

Have a wonderful vacation!

Thanks for the help.. I think I'll break up the trip.. Maybe do half a week in Santorini and the other half in Mykonos... Or maybe do some days in Athens?? What's the coolest place to stay in Athens?? I need a big pool for my son.. Thanks, Melody

I'd recommend Electra Palace in Athens (recently refurbished, rooftop pool - but not sure if they are taking individual bookings yet)

In Santorini I'd recommend Perivolas 0 the best pool I've ever seen

On Mykonos the Semeli is good but I stayed at the sister hotel the Belvedere which seemed a bit more upbeat.

A good place for recommendations and a helpful booking service is
www.i-escape.com/greece.php

hi,

I suggest you split you stay in greece .

2 nights on the Athens riviera to combine leisure(beach -swimming pool- farniente and visits of any attraction in the afternoon when the weather is cooler.
Within your budget yo can afford a stay at the Astir palace in Vouliagmeni or the Divani Apollon palace, both of them are fabulous beach resorts...after all you are on vacation ,not a bus. trip!

An other option is the brand new Hilton or Grande Bretagne (starwood)

3 nights in mykonos staying at the Grecotel mykonos blu or the Santa Marina
both of them have direct access to private beach facilities and pools and are children -friendly (wich is not the case in most of the upscale mykonos boutique hotels wich are more adapted to ' jetsetters' or 'fashionistas' people....)

2 nights in Santorini(katikies/perivolas/chromata ) and then back to Athens .

Now ,how to proceed for a better value?

Not before end of may!!!,....try to reach DIRECTLY an Athens based Travel Agent wich will handle your bookings/airport transfers/ferries or planes to the islands.
www.
TUI.gr, Monogram.gr , Amphitrion.gr
-are among the most reliable for incoming visitors .
I believe you will benefit a better rate without intermidiate commissions, and full local assistance.
