Thanks for your well written trip report! I enjoy the way you captured so many details of each moment. How on earth do you remember them at the end of your trip?
Like schuler, I am amazed that you made it to Obermatt by boat. Did your boat stop right at the Ennetbuergen station or did you have to transfer to a smaller boat at Beckenried? How long of a boat ride was it to get there from Lucerne? I've never been on the lake steamer.

I chuckled at your wife's "merry-go-round" comment. But it's so true that when you're given lemons, you make lemonade! Even on a cloudy day, you made the most of it.

Did you happen to see the cemetery behind the church? The gravestones are marked with the names of mountaineers who have lost their lives while climbing the Matterhorn. Some older, some very young.

I enjoyed your report very much. Thanks!

Dax,

I write the report while it's still fresh in my memory and during the hours when the rest of the country is asleep, sort of my way of coping with jet lagged.

At first we were quoted around CHF 350 for a taxi boat from Luzern but I told the person who was helping me at my hotel to find a cheaper alternative, perhaps a taxi boat from somewhere closer than Luzern. We ended up going to Weggis on the lake steamer, took around 45 minutes, and then a taxi boat from there to the restaurant which took another 15 minutes. Getting there and back cost more than the meal but definitely worth it IMO.

swisshiker,

I think I missed translated my wife's comment and it should have read "ferris wheel" but I guess it's sort of the same as a vertical merry go round. Glad you like it though!

Yes I did take a quick walk around the cemetery and was taken aback by the writings on the grave stones - very touching!

Glad you like my report.

hawaiiantraveler and Bob,

Glad you and Bob enjoyed it!

I've just uploaded a couple of small High Definition video clips on to YouTube, I didn't know you can do this from the video files of my digital camera! Click the little red "HD" button at the bottom right hand side of the screen to get the full effect.

Nice report, Pook. It's been years since we last visited Switzerland. Will view your photos later when I am on a real computer and not on my i-Phone.

Dear Hanuman,

thanks for a great report. I spent last weekend in Muerren and had such a fantastic time I'm going back this weekend. I also love Wengen... but I think I'm a convert.

I smiled at all your weather changes - it sure is hard here to know when the views will grace you or not - and so very exciting when they do!

So glad you enjoyed Switzerland.

Someone just pointed out to me that the town we went to for the Titlis trip was Engelberg NOT Engadin. Apologies for my mistake and thank you Swissaholic TA.

Wonderful report and absolutely beautiful photos. I fell in love with Wengen last month. It was my first time there, but I will return next September.
