My French Riveria in August!

I need some input on this idea. This was the perfect dream Honeymoon until Fodor's report of the French Riveria in August says that's not the time to go. Need some experienced advice please.

It's extremely crowded, since August is the month when the French take summer vacations. Traffic is horrendous, I'm told. It's bad during other warm months, I've seen.

Sorry to blow up your dream, but it's the WORST month to go, not the best.

June and September are best months.

But congratulations - - and best wishes on your new life in marriage.

Rex

The weather is supposed to be the best in terms of rainfall and sunshine in august. yes it is crowded then, but all of the restaurants and shops will be open for the season and you will see the beaches and riviera at its peak. Definitely continue with your plans and don't be discoraged unless you want to go when it's extremely quiet and want the beaches to be empty.
bill

The only way I'd do the French Riviera in August would be to book into a nice place right on the coast and just stay there. Touring is going to be a nightmare unless your idea of a great time is traffic.

But you're going to be on your honeymoon, so hanging out may be just your cup of tea. You could try Les Roches Blanches in Cassis (nice website at http://www.roches-blanches-cassis.com/), or you could get a place in Nice and just experience the town on foot.
