How many days do you have for all of these stops? Or are you just doing a drive-by?

Staying in Zurich, Winterthur, Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne and Lugano, the rest are driving through, having lunch, seeing some sights for a few hours then moving on.

10 days total. Seems like a pretty good itinerary. I am going to try to fit in Wengen, maybe Piz Gloria, maybe Fronalpstock.

A strange list - how did you come up with these targets? Wollerau??? Do you have ancestors from there and wish to visit, on the occasion of the village's 800th birthday which happens to be in 2017? Or why else?

And, as Kathie asks, when and how will you visit all these? Car? Trains? An hour each or overnights?

Unless we know what your modus operandi is, and what kinds of targets you want to add, we can't really make a list.

Case in point: Murten to Gstaad.

Do any of these interest you:

That's just for that short stretch Murten-Gstaad which, by car, takes less than two hours if you don't stop anywhere. If you want to do all the above justice, you can spend a few days on just that one short stretch.

So - tell us more, won't you?

Avenches, Friboug and Gruyers look very cool.

Looks like they are on my route to Gstaad.

I decided on those locations mostly based on looking up cool destinations, but Murten, Wollerau, Sisikon, I came across those while watching SwissView. They looked beautiful from aerial view.

Okay, fair enough. Just don't start any more threads about this trip of yours or we'll all get whiplash...

I won't. Sometimes threads can go stale though, and this is just me saying "if anyone knows somewhere on this route I should get off, let me know."

Then top your thread. Or at least link in your threads if you do start a new one.

Your itinerary gets worse and worse!

2 days ago I wrote:
"I suppose you will do your Zurich -> Pfaffikon -> Rapperswil -> Wollerau -> Bern -> Murten -> Interlaken -> Wengen -> Lugano zig zagging by car, otherwwise you would waste much more time than the 30 minutes between your Como itinerary and Verzasca Valley.

In the meantime you skipped Pfaefffikon and Rapperswil and added Winterthur, Hasliberg, Sisikon, 5 star Hotel Villa Honegg, Lucerne, Engelberg.

If we try do put that in a somewhat logical order, we get:
Zurich airport - Winterthur - motorway - Zurich - motorway - Zurich - motorway - Murten - motorway - Bern - motorway - Wimmis - Gstaad - Wimmis - motorway - Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen - Interlaken - Bruenig - Hasliberg - Bruenig - Lungern - motorway - Lucerne - motorway - Stansstad - Buergenstock - Stansstad - Stans - Engelberg - Stans - motorway - Altdorf - Sisikon - Wollerau - Sisikon - Altdorf - motorway - Lugano - Chiasso Brogeda - Como.

LOVED LOVED LOVED Murten, walking the walls for beautiful views, and a cruise on Murtensee. Plan 4-5 hours at least, with Kaffee und Kuchen or Lunch.
LOVED Rapperswil--The deerpark (and views from above), "castle" with small Polish museum within, the Parish church and interesting graveyard, Rose Gardens, Capuchin monastery, and cafes along the marina. Again, worth 4-6 hours to meander.

You lost me here, but I just want to see the Villa Honegg, I'm not staying there, and I dropped Pfaffikon because it looked superfluous, and I wasn't sure about Rapperswil.

Winterthur looks gorgeous, Hasliberg looks absolutely stunning, Sisikon looks gorgeous, Lucerne is regarded as one of Switzerland's best cities and Engelberg looks magnificent too.

So why is my intinerary getting worse and worse. Its like 5-600 miles of driving over 9 days and I hit up some of the best places in CH.

Also plan to drive through Jura-Aargau

Anyone have any suggestions on those days? Anything there that you thought sucked, or nearby that is underappreciated?

Anything I should really make sure to see in those locations?

I have difficult appreciating the logic of this trip -- too little time in too many places. Your trip, your call.

If there is any chance that you will have jet lag, I would strongly encourage you to take public transportation for your first night or two. Although many people are not aware of it, there is mounting evidence that driving with jet lag is just as dangerous -- to yourself and others -- as driving drunk, and nothing you can do will prevent the microsleeps (which you might not even notice) that are the apparent culprit. Seriously -- NOT a good idea, no matter your other constraints and no matter your prior experience!

Winterthur is so close to Zurich that there really is no reason not to take one of the frequent trains there. I'm not convinced that you have time to explore Winterthur AND visit Jura-Aargau for afternoon, and I cannot imagine that you would have time to visit Bern, Murten and Avalanches on the next day, so I'd cut the Jura-Aarau, take the train to Bern, and only rent a car -- if you must -- once you are there and can do so safely.

As I said, I don't understand the logic, which doesn't mean there isn't one.

It's not just you. It's inexplicable.

Used to stay in Winterthur for business and never thought as cool. Now I must return.

@ Huggy: Winterthur has some excellent small museums. Seeing them can easily take the better part of a very rewarding day. Hope you get to see them some day!
