Olympus mju 300 (3.2meg) or 400 (4.0 meg). Metal splash proof case small and easy to use, uses XD Memory cards and has its own battery that seems to last for ever. Easy to download with cable provided £160-240.

A feature that's especially fun for travelers is the one that allows you to "stitch" several shots together to make one panoramic photo. The Canon A75 has this in the camera -- set the dial for stitching, take photo 1, then a sliver of that remains on the screen for you to line up the next shot with it, and so on. Most 3+ meg cameras allow stitching via the software, but not many have the program within the camera. Check out the Canon A75 (list price $300, you should be able to find it for $250) if this appeals.
