My 6-7 weeks in Europe - Post # 2

Hi all!

After your much needed advice to a newbie, I am hard at work planning my Europe excursion for next spring. After much thought and planning I believe I will be basing out of London because of the drastically reduced ticket price, rather than flying into one city and out of another. I've found a good ticket for about $650 ($900 if I upgrade to deluxe economy) leaving March 14 and coming home on May 7. I'm about ready to book, but I'm wondering A) is this a good price from BA or might I be able to find better for a spring trip and B) how long can I wait to book this ticket to be ensured of getting this price? I ask because my mom's health is an issue and I need to wait as long as possible to book so I can make sure she's doing ok before I think to get on a plane.

Hi C,

It would be nice to know what city you're departing from in order to comment on your fare.

If that includes taxes/fees it seems good. And you can always get travel insurance in case your mother has a health crisis.

Yes, that is the price including taxes and fees. How soon would you recommend that I book the ticket? Can I wait until Dec. for the ticket if I'm leaving in March 2007, or should I book the ticket right away and just count on the ins. to take care of me if I have an emergency switch needed?

FRom looking at other posts, [and from the perspective of someone in the UK] the price you've been quoted is unlikely to get cheaper. Lots of people like to book before christmas for the following spring - we certainly did. So i'd book, then buy my travel insurance straight away in case anything interfers with my plans. hope you ma is ok and you have a good trip.
