My husband and I will have only three days in London this March. There are so many attractions to choose from. What are the "must-sees" and why did you choose them?

Also, what restaurants did you like/dislike?

Must Sees
Tower of London
Westminster Abbbey
Buckingham Palace (can't go inside except in Aug/Sep)
A Ride on the London Eye Big Wheel
British Museum
Taking in a play in the Theatre District
Covent Garden
Trafalgar Square

these seem to be consensus 'must sees' in my opinion and they are many great sights besides these -Shakespeare's Globe Theatre & Exhibition; Tate Modern; St Paul's Cathedral, etc.

I would add a walk along the South Bank between the London Eye and the Tate Modern though not a consensus must sight

Hope that you have a great time, you must definately go on the London Eye, the views of the city are great. Would also recommend a Thames River Cruise which you can do across the river from the Eye. You can then stop off at the Tower of London, Greenwich Observatory and Thames Barrier. All of the above can be easily done in a leisurely afternoon. Definately see Buckingham Castle, preferably when the Guard change is on, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben (give downing street a miss, nothing to see). Take in a show, can personally recommend 'We will Rock You' the Queen musical but most shows are worth seeing. Plenty of nice restaurants around Covent Garden and shops. Have fun

Have any of you been to the Madame Tussouds? I'm not sure I even understand what that is? Is it a wax museum or some reality experience? Or both?

Madame Tussards is a waxworks, with a ride that takes you through london through the ages. It is OK but I have thought it was expensive for the time spent in there. If you like realistic waxworks, then it is very good. The ride is slow car type ride that go's through different scenes from london past and present (about 5 mins long).
