There is no reason to buy the tickets ahead of time. A museum pass is a must if you plan to go to some of the other museums, see the list at: http://www.museums-of-paris.com/list-museum-pass.htm. The museum pass costs 22euros for 1-day, 38euros for 2-days, and 52euros for 5-days.

Unless the prices have risen the past couple months, the prices just quote are for purchase on line. And, if the prices haven't gone up in the past few months, in Paris it'll cost 15 euro for a one-day, 30 for a three-day and 45 for a five-day.<BR>It's best to wait and buy them when you get to Paris.

Thanks Howard! He's correct, the prices I quoted are for purchase on-line. The prices he listed are what it will cost in Paris, see the following official museum card website: http://www.intermusees.com/wwwie/index.html

Keep in mind that in addition to giving you admission to many many places, the pass also lets you skip the long lines (longer depending on when you're going) for almost everywhere except the towers at Notre Dame. Even if you're not going to go to enough places to cover the cost (or almost cover the cost), it's worth it to skip the lines, especially at the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, St. Chappelle and Versailles.
