I am going to Paris at the end of May and we are trying to plan ahead to make the most of our time. Does anyone have good websites to buy a museum pass and a metro pass? Should we just buy a 5-day metro pass when we get there? Also, we are planning on going to Versailles...do we need a train ticket for that or will the metro pass suffice?

You do not need to purchase the passes ahead of time, it will cost you more money and they are easy to get.

Buy the metro pass at a metro station.

Buy the museum pass at one of the museums or at some tourist offices. I bought mine at the tourist office on the Champs Elysses. You will need to have it validated at the first museum you go to. Or, stop at one of the smaller museums (shorter lines) and purchase it there.

It's a separate ticket for Versailles. You can purchase it at any train station. Buy a return ticket (round trip), be sure you hang on to your ticket you need it to get out of the train station in Versailles.

If you do a google search for the Paris museum pass, you should find their official site and it will list all the locations you can buy it.

The best pass, if any, depends upon several factors: how many days you'll be in Paris, which day of the week you'll arrive and which day you'll leave, whether you arrive by plane or train and/or leave by plane or train. The Paris Museum pass will give you admission to Versailles. However, if you want to use all the days of coverage on your pass to see other museums, buy a Forfait Loisirs ticket which covers your transportation to Versailles and back plus admission. See here: http://tinyurl.com/y84c3o.

One more thing: The Paris Visite pass is overpriced. It's almost never a good deal.

Well, I haven't been there for a year but I am going in May so I'll check it out. It was a kiosk type place and it was near the park area between the Concorde and the start of the shops.
