Murano and REAL Murano glass

I am leaving next week for Venice. We are meeting family there. Our granddaughters want to see glassblowing!

We are going to Burano and Murano on our own. I have been lucky enough to have some beautiful, old (1950 & 1970) Murano glass that my parents had. I've heard that there are many fake glass (not Murano glass) on Murano. WHere do we go for authentic glass blowing?

Thank you!
Tracy

You need to visit the shop of a top Venetian glass blower, Carlo Moretti at L’Isola, lisola.com

Moretti showroom in Venice:
San Marco 2970, Calle de le Botteghe
30124 Venice Italy

You should look for the Vetro Artistico sign in the shop windows and the sticker on each piece of glass you're considering. Only glass produced on the island of Murano will have this authentication. Unfortunately even the stickers have been the source of fraud, so stickers on glass produced after 2016 will include a QR code you can scan on your phone to verify authenticity. At the second link below, you can search the numeric codes on the sticker to confirm authenticity of the producer and product.

Even at a glassblower, a lot of the things on sale are not authentic.

The link I gave you is for an authentic, highly regarded glass blower. We stopped going to Murano years ago as it became over touristed, prefer the other islands and Venice.
