Munich or Paris for new years eve?

Can stay in Munich for New Years eve or move on to Paris on the 31st. Which might be better?

I'm predicting that Paris will beat Munich on this board. Nevertheless,my wife & I had a fantastic Silvester celebration in Munich in 2001/2002 along with my siblings and their spouses. Munich has a lot to offer and we did combine it with Salzburg.

I think it would also depend on which culture and language do you enjoy more, french or german.

Stay with Munich & enjoy. No, I am not German, but one of many who have a problem with French attitudes.
Whatever you do, have a good one & Happy New Year!!

Yes, of course Munich. Don't think there's another option.

Don't forget to buy enough DIY fireworks at the supermarket. It gets crazier every year. I'd spend at least 50€ on fireworks and 30€ on a bottle of Heidsieck (or better!).

We spent last New Years in Munich. It was crazy! The pedestrian zone and Marienplatz are PACKED with people.
Get an early table at one of the beerhalls, there were hundreds of people looking for seats later.
The fireworks were amazing! Thousands of rockets, bouncing off churches, scooting under your feet.
Two days later we got the third degree from security at CDG. Our shoes were covered with explosives residue which had transfered to our hands.

The rear end of the Theresienwiese (=Oktoberfest grounds) close to Goetheplatz is a good option. You also need to bring a bottle of water.
Once the champagne is empty, you fill the bottle with water and use it as a rocket launcher, the bigger the rockets, the better!
(Some say Aldi beats everything, well at least in price per rocket ratio)

Don't forget to wait for the ohhhs and ahhhs after each rocket.

Have decided to stay in Munich so we have 4 full days and leave to Paris on the 2nd. Staying at the Meridien in Munich. Hotels in Paris very expensive on the 31st.
Any specific thoughts as to what to do close to my hotel on new years eve?
