Munich in early March
I am traveling to Munich with a teenager in early March. We need some fun and interesting things to do, however, no museums. Are there any worthwhile hotels in the heart of Munich where we could do a lot of the sightseeing as soon as we leave the hotel?

Hi Chris,

I will not be going to Munich until mid-May, but we are booked at Hotel Torbraeu. This hotel is supposed to be exactly what you have in mind.

Their website is [email protected]

Hope this helps. If you decide to stay there, please post your thoughts when you return.

Dick

I took my 12year old daughter to Munich last summer and the most fun thing we did was a tour on Mikes Bike tours. I think they run tours in March, but you should check out their website @www.mikesbiketours.com. Going to the Neuschwanstein Castle was also fun.

I was in Munich Spring of '99. I was with American friends who were living in Leipzig at the time and had 3 kids, 12, 10 and 6 at the time.

We enjoyed the incredibly touristy Glockenspiel at the Marienplatz. We climbed the church tower across from it and watched it from there.

There is a toy museum (yes, it's a museum) just off the Marienplatz. All the kids liked it. Had a great Barbie exhibit for the girls.

Go to the Haufbrau Haus in the center of town. It has a great German atmoshpere.

If the carnival is open, take the subway up to the Olympic park north of town.
