Munich hotels

Any comments about the Munich city Marriott vs Four Seasons Sheraton in Munich. Which one would be better for a family without a car and wanting also to travel to some of the castles. Thanks!

The 4 seasons is in a really good location. Not sure where the Marriot is, but I'm thinking it's a ways from the center.

Hello Sue,

the Marriott is in Schwabing, it`s located where the Autobahn Nuernberg/Airport ends. I like it very much, because there`s a U-Bahn station 50 m away and if you want to walk it`s only a couple of blocks to enjoy all the restaurant and bars Schwabing offers. Schwabing is considered as the best spot when it comes to good restaurants, cafes etc. With the U-Bahn you can reach Marienplatz/Stachus without changing trains. The hotel itself is a typical Marriott like they are worldwide, but very nice furnished. They offer a great Brunch on Sunday mornings.
I can`t help you with the other hotel, sorry.

Miriam

Sue
I agree with Miriam. The Marriott is very nice and good location with easy access to U-Bahn stop just a block away. We stayed there for a couple of nights and enjoyed it very much. It is also nice if you are driving as the entrance to the Autobahn is right by the hotel so it is easy to get in and out. They also have secure parking (at a cost). Go for it. Nice and typical Marriott. And, not real expensive.

You can stay at a Marriott anytime, almost anywhere. Introduce the family to the real Munich and stay at the Pension am Gaertnerplatztheater. Just south of the market ands walking distance to Marienplatz. Subway across the street to main station for connections to anywhere.
Wonderful rooms featherbed, nice baths. Super morning breakfast included. Owner is fantastic. Was there in Feb and rate was DM 150/room/night ($68.00) Great theater right down the block and many nice restaurants in immediate area. If interested e-mail me and I'll forward phone and fax which I don't have handy at the moment. A great to learn the city and the people, definately more fun too.
